Belonging is more than a good feeling: Community activities and support networks help our ABI consumers build personal resiliency, strong friendships, and enriched lives. And celebrating the ABI community helps raise awareness and foster a more inclusive society. It’s for these reasons that Project Genesis creates and facilitates so many opportunities to connect.
In partnership with the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut (BIAC), we proudly co-host the annual “Fun in the Sun” Summer Cookout, one of New England’s largest social gatherings for Acquired Brain Injury survivors, family members, providers, employees, team members, and friends.
We also collaborate with BIAC to offer support and social groups, helping to regularly connect local survivors and their families. Our current offerings include:
- The Willimantic Brain Injury Support Group, which is open to brain injury survivors, their families, providers, and interested members of the community.
- Opportunities for brain injury survivors to socialize with peers in their community. Event themes include bowling, spectator sports, pampering, and holiday celebrations.
