Survivor Story of the Month: Interview With Ebony Adams
Question: When did you acquire your brain injury?
Answer: December 27th, 2007.
Question: What were some of your initial obstacles?
Answer: Couldn’t walk or talk. Nerve damage to hands. Couldn’t cook for my kids, change my clothes and go back to work.
Question: What were the things or people who motivated you?
Answer: God, my children, family, Project Genesis, and gospel music.
Question: How has P.G. helped?
Answer: P.G. helped me regain my mobility. I’ve been able to go out in the community, interact, go to social activities, gain a new family and people that are going through the same experience as I am. P.G. gave me the sense of independence.
Question: What words of advice would you like to encourage someone who has just acquired ABI?
Answer: Be encouraged to not give up. Yes, you can do anything after acquiring an ABI. Keep “HOPING”, try different things and don’t stop!
